6 Steps for the Best Tin Foil Dinners

Step 1

Season!

Use your choice of ground hamburger, turkey, or other option and season well with salt and pepper. After making your ground hamburger into patties, be sure to season both sides well. You can get crazy with it and use other spices to your liking. Have fun with it!

Step 2

Pick your Veg!

Chop up your vegetables of choice. Our family loves to use potatoes, carrots, and onions, but the choice is up to you. Be sure to chop up your vegetables in thin slices to help them cook faster and all the way through.

Step 3

Secret: Add Cream of Mushroom Soup!

This little hidden secret is a great way to keep the meal moist and add some gravy to your meal.

Step 4

Pack it all in!

In double sheets of tinfoil, place your hamburger pattie on the bottom, mix the cream of mushroom with the veggies and add on top. Seal it up tight and you're ready to cook.

Step 5

Cook in the Coals!

Place the tinfoil packet not on direct fire, but on the hot coals. Cook for about 30-40 mins and flip the packet about every 10 mins. Be sure that the meat is cooked through and that the veggies are nice and soft when done.

Step 6

Add your condiments!

After opening it up to make sure that all the meat and vegetables are done, add in your condiments or seasoning for taste. Our family loves to use Ketchup, but you can use whatever you like to make your tinfoil dinner your own.
