Anyone who is interested in visiting national parks, getting advice, seeing awesome photos, or just likes reading about other's travels, visiting Riley's site The Parks Expert is a must. She is dedicated to helping the average guy plan a great trip. Having visited 256/423 of the parks, she is highly experienced and open to talk and consult with anyone.
Riley's Website
Riley's site is extremely professional and chuck-full of information and tips. The first section is called National Parks. In this section she cleverly maps out for us where each national park is in each state, while also giving us a list. The second section is called Plan a Park Trip. This section is dedicated to help with anything. With personalized guides, itineraries, lodging, camping, hiking, you name it, she's got the info there. And lastly is the blog section. In this section she talks about her own experience, what she enjoyed, and how her personal trip went.
Advice
Whether it comes to following advice from a newbie like me, or an expert like Riley, its important to go into any adventure with a little help. Google tips and trip. Do your research. Learn from stories like Riley's, or use her itineraries to get a great trip planned. Sometimes nature can be dangerous, and national parks aren't places with no danger present. So please take some advice, do your research, and be prepared for your trip. That way you can have the best vacation possible!




America's Newest National Park!
New River Gorge National Park
New River Gorge, located in scenic West Virginia is the U.S's newest addition to the National Park system. The area covers around 70,000 acres around the New River area is known for playing a key role in history.
Top Things to Do:
This newest national park is like so many of the others- a great place for adventure!
Being near a river there are section of the river that is great for fishing, and even some rafting!
Want to rock climb? There are 1,600 established climbing routes in the park.
There is plenty of hiking, biking, lookouts, and history to enjoy!

When To Visit:
This new national park is totally on my bucket list. In researching when the best time to visit I found that like many places it is busiest in the summer. If you are wanting a great place for summer vacation look no further. However, if you aren't afraid of a jacket and braving a few chilly winds to see the beautiful fall foliage, then New River Gorge National Park is famous for its stunning fall colors.

What You Need to Know:
Did I convince you to take a trip here yet? Because I've definitely convinced myself.
So here is a short list of things to make sure you know before you head out on your adventure to New River Gorge.
1. Location- Fayette County, West Virginia.
2. Not a hiker or biker or white water rafter? No worries, there are plenty of scenic drives through the park.
3. Take a Bridge Walk Tour to explore the expansive and impressive bridge built over the gorge.
4. There are plenty of places stay so don't stress. They have camping, hotels, inns, vrbo, cabins and more.
